Welcome to Parish Kneelers |
|
This is a not-for-profit website First, we want to record all church kneelers that are local, original and unique. This is a small but important part of folk art - probably the most widely practised folk art in the country - but so far barely recorded. PLEASE HELP. The website GALLERY contains nearly 3000 locally-designed kneelers, but this is a tiny proportion of those that exist up and down the country. If you have a digital camera and are willing to help, click on CONTACT US. Secondly, we aim to promote the tradition of designing and making original church kneelers. Click on WHAT THEY SAY in the Main Menu on the left to see what others think. Click on the relevant pages for detailed advice on how to do it (ORGANISING, DESIGNING, STITCHING, MAKING UP), WHAT to do with collapsing kneelers (REPAIRING) and on where to find materials and reference books (SUPPLIERS & BOOKS). It's easier than you think.
